Chapter One: Pickle
The hanging man’s reasons died with him. The story of Robert’s end would be a bonding experience for the generally disconnected Park Lake Highland neighborhood. He had left that cryptic two word note: Too soon. Police dismissed it as another depressed, family-less, single man’s suicide. He used a leash. A ball in his pocket discovered only later by the coroner, another ignored clue. The gossips didn’t know he used all 15 days of his accrued sick time. Nobody would ever connect that Robert had visited the animal hospital three weeks ago to put down his beloved Newfoundland, Pickle. Too soon.
Storied Orlando is a short-short story project by Scottie Campbell. Each story is 100 words or less. Some of the stories are lovely, some less so, but they all want to be told.
